Our Programs

I Can Breathe

When black and brown meets green!

The I Can Breathe program is designed to promote the environmental engagement of Black and Brown communities in Canada at every stage of participants' lives.

Helping Black communities become environmentally aware

We help Black and Brown communities better understand their environmental issues. We use citizen research projects to help community members get familiar with the environmental problems in their community and in the country. Then, we couple the citizen research activities with campaigns meant to promote the adoption of behavioural change by community members, businesses and authorities to address the specific environmental issues. In that process, we train interested community members to help them become environmental community leaders.

Helping Black and Brown students get interested in green careers

We expose Black and Brown students to cool green innovations and to green STEMS in order to get them interested in green careers. We partner with schools, colleges and universities to include green careers preparedness activities for Black and Brown Canadians in their curriculum and programs.

Helping Black and Brown Kids and Families Enjoy Nature

Environmental engagement often starts with a passion for nature. We create nature exploration activities for Black and Brown kids and their families. These activities are mostly for entertainment, but they are coupled with science-related education, climate change education, and diversity and anti-racism education. BE Initiative is constantly looking for partners to help us offer better experiences in this field.
